About MENO HOME
Waste Reduction
The Brut collection is crafted from solid steel using only two steel profiles. We are on a mission to reduce material waste by efficiently utilizing durable materials. We design our furniture parts so they can be cut and formed in a way that reduces unusable off-cuts. We use our upholstery trimmings to create our swatches, minimizing scraps.
Climate-Friendly Materials
New, plant based Vegan leather made from prickly pear cactus by Desserto is a low-water, carbon-negative, agrochemical-free solution to durable upholstery.
Solid, American-made steel is a durable material that is long-lasting. This means we can create quality furniture that can be used for years to come. We are working towards sourcing carbon-neutral raw steel from Colorado-based Electra Steel as it becomes available to further reduce our raw material footprint. We chose to powder coat our steel frames for longevity and durability.
Natural Latex rubber is a clean, naturally anti-microbial foam option that is also 100% plastic and petroleum-free. We use only 100% Organic Cotton batting and zero added chemicals of any kind to ensure we are not contributing to poor indoor air quality caused by off gassing.
Lower-Carbon Logistics
Our metal fabrication partners are less than two miles from MENO HOME STUDIOS in Denver, CO. The steel pieces, once finished are transported to the studio to be photographed and cataloged via electric vehicle. Our desire is to sell these pieces as close to the point of manufacture as possible, however when we do ship these goods, we first look for carrier return loads. This means we contract with a shipper who is already passing through Denver, heading towards the customer. This allows shipping costs to be much lower and avoids fuel being expended for single loads.
We chose to use Desserto cactus leather as well because it is made within 1000 miles of where we fabricate our furniture, keeping the footprint of our supply chain as small as possible.
