Early 18th century Italian carved, painted gilt fireside stool. Raised on later 18th or 19th century hoof feet. Superb old layers of paint, gilding fabric history (stripped to muslin now ready to upholster). Multiple 20th century repairs strengthen the stool within the frame. Small apron repair. Back rail another 18th or 19th century restoration. Note the flat back - either intended as a fireside stool or later modified from a chair. 22.5" x 16.5" x 18.5". h.
