A very rare early 19th Century mahogany metamorphic library steps that converts to a footstool. The stunning piece is of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with rich patination and grain. The finely cast brass hand rail surmounted with finial is raised above the well figured mahogany brass hinged metamorphic library steps which features three steps and converts into a fabulous footstool upholstered in a strikingly decorative design of scrolling foliate in golden hues against dark ground. Mahogany Type: 'Santos Mahogany'
