About the Item

A fabulous early 20th Century well figured mahogany stool in the Georgian Irish style of exceptional quality and finely carved with rich patination and beautiful grain. The cushioned drop in seat of rectangular form is upholstered in a gorgeous material with cream embroidered geometric diamond and beaded detail against gold ground, raised over a simple and moulded frieze with scrolling knuckle detail to each corner. Supported on elegantly tapering cabriole leg with a stunning arrangement of acanthus leaves and trailing bellhusk motifs on knee, terminating on a hairy paw and claw foot. Small knuckle carving is missing as per photos. Mahogany Type: ‘Santos Mahogany’
