About the Item
An elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Giltwood stool. This most charming circular stool is raised on four scrolled and beaded feet supported by the original Brass casters. Each wonderfully scrolled and mottled leg is joined by a scrolled stretcher centered by a turned finial before leading to the arbalest shaped frieze. At the frieze, and above each leg, are intricately detailed Giltwood carvings of blossoming flowers with additional large scale foliate reserves between each leg. The upholstered seat is finished with a gold trim which follows the contours of the stool below.
