About the Item
Hewn from solid wood, this rare 1970s stool by Richard Lecompte channels the raw spirit of French Brutalism through organic form. Hand-carved in Agonac, a commune in the Dordogne region of southwestern France known for its dense, textured wood, each stool is a singular expression of mass and material—irregular, sculptural, and deeply tactile. The thick, weighty top rests atop a tapering base, revealing the grain, knots, and idiosyncrasies of the timber with reverence.
Condition: Great vintage condition. Natural wood splits and open seams throughout, which do not impact the structure or usability of the stool. Maker's mark present along the underside.
