About the Item
Set of six bar stools designed by Herta Maria Witzemann and manufactured by Erwin Behr in 1950. The work of Witzemann typically consists out of light and vibrant structures, which have a feeling of lightness to it and woven cane was often used as a seat and backrest. The cane itself is in good and original condition. As the pictures show, besides marks of minor wear to the seats there are no structurally or visually tears or cracks in the cane material. This gives the seats a nice and original appeal. The black coated metal base has minimalist look, which is typical for the work of Maria Witzemann. Her progressive approach towards form really expresses the post war optimism.
