About the Item
An Italian carved-wood curule stool with cushion seat from the early 20th century. This antique stool from Italy has been created in the Curule (or often referred to as Dante) style, featuring legs comprised of two half-moon shapes, carved with leaf-wrapped trim, which attach at their rounded peaks at middle. The upper half-moon continues above the seat to create arm posts that terminate into scrolls with flower head medallions at their side/centers. There is a carved-figure head where the legs meet at center, and legs terminate into nice paw-carved feet. The seat and side arm rests are upholstered in a burgundy fabric, which is in good/usable condition, or could be refreshed to make this more customized for your home. This early 20th century Italian curule stool will make a handsome accent seating option that is versatile enough be used in numerous areas throughout your home.

Born in Italy during the late 19th century, hand-crafted of warm, rich, finely carved solid walnut, finished in medieval Henry II style / Italian Empire taste, featuring X-frame with curved armrests ending in ornate stylized lion's head / griffin grotesques, having an upholstered seat cushion adorned with nail head trim, rising on foliate carving turned stretcher-joined richly detailed acanthus leaf accented legs, terminating in finely sculpted lion paw feet.
