I would like to introduce an old Japanese chair. This is a small folding chair called "syou-gi". This type of chair originated from ancient China. It has been used in Japan since ancient times, and was often used outdoors as well as indoors. Originally, Japan was a tatami room culture, so not every house had it. I think it was used by aristocrats and samurai people in the old days. There were times when I didn't sit down and sat on a chair like this. In this era, it was not made in large numbers and was a rare item. In the Meiji era, Western culture was adopted, and table chair culture was also introduced. This kind of "syou-gi" may have been made in Japan, where the table chair culture was accepted, and its practicality was re-evaluated. And this is probably made in the Meiji period to the Taisho period (1868-1920). The frame is thin, but there was no problem for a 60kg man to sit on it. However, when you sit down and shake it sideways, it will bend. This is due to the simple structure of the wooden frame. But you can sit without problems. The seat is also made of leather, but there is no problem with the condition. One of the seams of the leather is broken, but there is no problem in using it. This is a rare item that you don't see very often. Highly recommended!
