About the Item

This French Louis XVI style round hand carved vanity stool from the mid nineteenth century features rosettes at the die joints and a rais-de-coeur pattern on the apron. The seat rests on tapered fluted legs detailed with acanthus leaves and joined by a lower X stretcher formed by two opposing half circles. A central rosette adorns the X stretcher. Painted with its original patina that only comes with age, this piece stands ready to be upholstered. An elegant addition to a powder bath or dressing room, circa 1860.
