About the Item

Unique and fun stool designed by Acrila, a French firm known for its contemporary acrylic glass (or Plexiglas) furniture. In their creations, shape, image, transparency, and light are masterfully combined. They represent the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity, as their creations are truly avant-garde stylizations of past styles, but in a completely modern material. In this case, a high, adjustable stool that, taking advantage of the transparency of the seat and backrest material, imitates the upholstery of a Baroque-era chair, with brocade or damask in a deep pink color. The black profile evokes the carved wooden frame of a chair from that period. A great opportunity to acquire a unique piece of high-end French design! About Acrila Acrila is a French design company based in Bordeaux, founded in 2007 by Jean-Christophe Bernard and Isabelle Bernard. It is recognized for its innovative approach, creating contemporary acrylic furniture with unique and extravagant designs. Its founder developed a printing process that allows graphic images to be printed directly onto the acrylic using an industrial printer. Therefore, each piece of furniture is handmade, undergoing the printing, shaping, and polishing processes. The material used, acrylic glass, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, scratch- and sun-resistant, and does not yellow over time. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is one of its leading designers. An iconoclast and avant-garde artist with a flair for Pop Art, he combines fashion with art, creating fun and colorful designs. Acrila's designs are exhibited in more than 55 countries around the world. The company is revolutionizing the world of decoration and design, creating contemporary furniture pieces that bring luxury and modernity to the home. Pair of Pink «Ghost» chairs, J.C. de Castelbajac for Acrila, Acrylic glass
By Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
Located in Valladolid, ES
Gorgeous Pair of «Ghost» chairs, J.C. de Castelbajac for Acrila, Acrylic glass, after Philippe Starck – France Spectacular pair of high-quality French acrylic glass chairs, inspired by the design of the Louis Ghost model created by Philippe Starck for the Italian manufacturer Kartell in 2002. Many designers have been inspired by Starck's original design to create different pieces of furniture, furniture where shape, image, transparency and light are combined. Specifically, this pair is attributed to the French designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac, for Acrila. They represent the perfect combination of tradition and modernity, as the model is actually an avant-garde stylization of Louis XVI style chairs in an absolutely modern material. Originally, Louis XVI chairs, a symbol of elegance, were made of wood, with upholstered back and seat. In this case, acrylic glass offers an ethereal and crystalline appearance, creating the piece in a single block, without the need for screws or adhesives. Taking advantage of the transparency of the material, the structure of Louis XVI chairs is imitated, both the back, the seat and the four legs, all in white, and the “upholstered” in pink.
