About the Item

Bentwood stool from the late 19th or early 20th century, made by the company Jacob Josef Kohn (Austria-Hungary). Kohn was a competitor of Thonet, which temporarily merged with Thonet after World War I during the Great Depression. The piano stool is made of solid beechwood and has a bent plywood seat. The curved legs of the wide base are held together at the bottom by a wooden cross. The stool is very stable and its height is adjustable from 46 cm to approximately 64 cm using a steel spindle. The spindle runs smoothly and has a little play. The stool is finished with a transparent shellac lacquer, which is partially worn – the stool's natural beech color is now visible. The stool bears the original Kohn embossed stamp and a paper label under the seat. A beautiful collector's item in good original condition with signs of wear on the surfaces and a few old, uninhabited wormholes. Weight 6250 g Feedback
