About the Item
This handsome pair of antique French stools was crafted circa 1890, in the Louis XIII style. Built of solid walnut, each stool stands on robust turned legs joined by matching turned stretchers, a hallmark of Louis XIII–inspired seating. The warm, rich walnut patina highlights the depth of the wood and the honest wear consistent with age and use.
Both stools are upholstered in deep red velvet, finished with decorative brass nailhead trim along the apron. The upholstery shows some visible staining (see photos), which has been reflected in the condition and contributes to their authentic antique character. These stools work beautifully as footstools, extra seating, fireside accents, or at the foot of a bed, and they also pair well with larger Louis XIII or rustic French furnishings.
