About the Item
A beautifully authentic pair of early 19th-century English oak milking stools with all the right surface, wear, and character. Each stool is hand-turned with baluster-shaped legs, splayed for stability, and joined by its original X-form stretcher. The seats show that perfect shallow dish and softened rim that only comes from generations of real use- completely honest, untouched, and tactile.
The oak has developed a warm, work-worn patina: polished along the high points, dry in the recesses, with subtle color variation that only age can produce. These were true working stools in rural households, and they carry the straightforward, utilitarian beauty that defines early English country furniture.
