A rustic milking stool could also serve as a side/coffee table. Sitting on three, heavily angled, slightly chamfered legs and formed of beech and elm with a great aesthetic. England, c19th Century.
Befitting of interiors that blend pieces of different styles and ages, the piece would work equally well in a contrasting modern interior as well as traditional and also one that harnesses the stripped-back, primitive, rustic, wabi-sabi aesthetic that is so on trend currently and embraces and helps us see natural beauty in imperfection. The piece has great patina that only the nature of the material and time can produce.
Condition: The piece naturally shows wear commensurate with its age and the practical use it would have once served. Some of the age characteristics to be expected are no longer active woodworm, some slight losses and imperfections - as there are minimal fixings there may be little wobbles and in general please expect the endearing quirks of a piece this age and type. One leg has been historically glued and there are some faint signs that it may have been over-painted at one time.
