About the Item
This sculptural set of six stools is an important example of Brazilian Denúncia furniture from the 1970s, a movement that emerged as a response to the deforestation of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica). Handcrafted from reclaimed tree trunks, the stools transform discarded natural material into functional objects with strong sculptural presence.
Each stool features a solid, organically contoured seat supported by clustered vertical wood elements, preserving the natural grain, texture, and irregularities of the material. The design is both primitive and architectural, reflecting the ethos of Denúncia furniture—where environmental awareness and craftsmanship coexist.
The wood has been carefully polished and cleaned and remains in excellent condition, displaying rich tonal variation developed naturally over time. Versatile in use, the stools can function as seating, side tables, or sculptural accents. A matching Denúncia table is available separately (Lot 764), allowing for a cohesive ensemble.
