About the Item

TORO Stool in Tzalam with Natural Finish by Daniel Couttolenc. Dimensions: D 50 x W 50 x H 47 cm. Materials: Tzalam wood. The TORO Stool by Daniel Couttolenc blurs the line between design and sculpture, combining simple lines with commanding visual presence. Handcrafted from solid Tzalam wood with a Natural finish that celebrates its rich texture, this piece is proportioned according to the golden ratio—the mathematics through which nature creates itself. Its form is inspired by the toroid, the shape nature uses to keep its magnetic field balanced, embodying organic harmony and structural power. Daniel Couttolenc's practice treats sacred geometry as a generative system, creating objects that resonate not only with the eye but also with the soul. Each piece is meticulously carved to achieve its desired volume, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood grain and unique texture. Versatile as a seat, footrest, or sculptural statement, the TORO Stool unites the material with the spiritual—a companion that speaks beyond what can be seen. This piece is customisable upon request. Daniel’s practice is meticulous and detail-driven. He approaches each design with reverence for proportion, symmetry, and energy. Rather than conceiving geometry as ornamentation, he treats it as a generative system - one that brings structural clarity and spiritual resonance to each piece. His works are conceived not just as functional objects, but as living expressions of harmony, creating subtle vibrations that invite reflection and connection. Through this synthesis of precision and intuition, Daniel is shaping a new narrative for design: one where the measurable and the mystical are no longer opposites, but inseparable voices within the same harmony.

Esfera Stool by Rodrigo Ohtake, Brazilian Contemporary Design
By Rodrigo Ohtake
Located in Sao Paulo, SP
The Esfera stool was created by the Brazilian contemporary designer Rodrigo Ohtake, in 2019. The mix of materials is the differential in this series. While wood is used as a seat, a metal plate, thick and curved, raises the first material from the ground in a light way and with minimal contact, both with the floor and with the wood. The structure is made of stainless steel and Cumaru Wood. Definitely a one of a kind and unique piece. Graduated at FAU / USP in 2009, with a period of studies at the Polytechnic of Milan, Rodrigo Ohtake is always in search of his own architectural style. Passionate about colors and free forms, he collaborated with architects Mario Biselli, Alvaro Puntoni, and Frenchman Patrick Jouin, in addition to working with his father, Ruy, from 2008 to 2016. In addition to working in the offices, he participated as a curatorial assistant in the exhibitions "Viver na Floresta", curated by Abílio Guerra, "O Coração da Cidade: Invention of Spaces" by Júlio Katinsky...
