About the Item

Authentic African carved wooden elephant stool. Originates from the Ashanti Tribe of Ghana. It is of traditional form with the elephant stood on a flat base with a curved seat on his back. It is excellent quality and the detail of carving around his face and tail are lovely. Asante stools are a well-known piece of art in the Akan culture, they are carved from a single block of wood. It is in good vintage condition for its age and has a lovely patina.
