About the Item

Proportions of stone stool 05 by Lee Sisan, 2020 Dimensions: W 36 x D 36 x H 45 cm. Materials: Stainless steel, natural stone. Each piece is made to order and uses natural stones, so please expect some variability in design. "Proportions of stone" is a modeling experiment on the fundamentality of stone cast away by natural phenomena. Consisting of tables, chairs, and other functional furniture pieces, the dimensions of each piece were determined by the stones borrowed from nature. The shapes and functions of the designs were only formed after. Stones mounted on manufactured steel plates play both structural and aesthetic roles. These juxtaposed mediums are opposite, yet balanced - fulfilling the artist's desire to "balance the relationship between nature and artifact." Lee Sisan is a designer and artist based in Seoul, South Korea. He majored in interior design to explore the relationship between nature, artifact and humans. He identifies the essence of the material and make form of refined language. He conducts experiments in which man-made beings coexist in harmony with nature and maintain balance.
