View AllFriedrich Otto Schmidt Art Deco Stool, Pouf, Original Condition, Vienna, 1920s
By Friedrich Otto Schmidt
Located in Vienna, AT
A beautiful Art Deco tabouret or stool / footstool, dating from around 1925. Manufactured by Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Vienna / Austria. The stool features an elegant round shape and impresses above all with its well-preserved condition. It is still upholstered with the original fabric, which remains in outstandingly good condition — clean and with hardly any signs of wear. We assume that this stool may have never been used, which makes it a particularly rare piece of furniture in museum-quality condition.
The stool is marked on the underside: Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Wien, IX, Währinger Straße 28 Numbered: 11859

Especially significant was their collaboration with the famous architect Adolf Loos. Through these partnerships and their active involvement in the reform movements of Viennese arts and crafts...
