We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare fully restored original 19th century circa 1880 Italian Venetian Grotto Fantasy stool after the genius that is CIE Pauly What a piece, it is absolutely amazing, I found this hidden away in an antiques shop on my last trip around Europe, it was covered in dirt however it was instantly recognizable due to the exceptionally rare shell seat base The stool went straight to my French polishers where they washed all the dirt and grime off to reveal the stunning walnut timber patina, they then sympathetically French polished it from top to bottom. The end result is the finest Grotto stool that will ever come to market In terms of the condition there will be good honest patina marks all over, none of which the restoration process was designed to hide, they show the true age and add to the charm and charisma of the piece. This stool looks a million dollars from every angle Dimensions: Height 60cm Width 45cm Depth 46.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
