Pair of Fridene swivel lounge chairs designed by Carina Bengs for IKEA, featuring rounded barrel forms on swivel bases. The chairs have a compact, enveloping silhouette with curved backs and sides that create a cocoon-like seating experience. Central swivel mechanisms allow 360-degree rotation.
Newly reupholstered in ivory boucle fabric, replacing the original upholstery with textured wool blend material. The boucle's nubby surface and soft cream tone add warmth and tactile interest to the sculptural forms. Fresh upholstery provides clean appearance and updated comfort while maintaining the original chair structures and bases.
Bengs designed the Fridene chair for IKEA in the early 2000s, creating a swivel chair with playful proportions and comfortable dimensions. The rounded form and compact footprint work well in smaller spaces or clustered arrangements. Swivel function adds versatility for conversation areas or reading nooks. Pair provides matching lounge seating with the option to separate for use in different rooms.
