This charming and finely scaled example exemplifies early 19th-century English vernacular design, made predominantly of richly figured yew wood and ash, with a beautifully grained elmwood seat carved from a single plank. The hooped back is flanked by hand-turned spindles, flowing gracefully into shaped arms supported by balustar-turned arm supports. The seat is deeply sculpted and retains a warm, timeworn patina, showcasing the natural beauty of the elm. Below, simple turned legs are joined by an elegant crinoline stretcher- a particularly desirable detail in children's Windsor chairs...
