About the Item

This elegant wing back chair reflects the restrained beauty of the Biedermeier period, likely crafted in Germany or Austria in the mid to late 19th century. Made of warm, honey-toned fruitwood, the frame is gently curved and well-proportioned, with a high back and dramatic scrolled wings that lend the piece both visual interest and comfort. The silhouette is at once classic and inviting, with simple, refined lines that allow the natural beauty of the wood to shine. Upholstered in a traditional striped floral fabric in soft green, cream, and rose tones, the chair is finished with neat welting along the seat and backrest. The tall wings and deep seat offer an enveloping comfort that would make this a standout piece in a reading nook, bedroom corner, or parlor. Its understated elegance works beautifully in both period and transitional interiors. In nice antique condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. There is visible staining to the seat upholstery (pictured), but the frame remains tight and sturdy. A rare and charming example of Biedermeier design. 47h x 25w x 29d seat height 18
