About the Item

Mid-century wingback armchair designed by Ib Kofod Larsen, circa 1950s, Denmark. This lounge is absolutely stunning with massive sculptural appeal. The frame steals the show, made from teak, and in classic Danish approach - features subtle and well executed design elements. The front leg is cylindrical with a mild taper. The tall back legs have a more tapered look as they come to a circular head accenting the side of the lounge. Crossbars connect the front and back legs for stability. The arms of the lounge are teak fins that seamlessly integrate with the frame. The arms are sculpted to taper away from the chair. The frame is streamlined with phenomenal details. The seated section of the lounge continues with the sculptural aspect. The seat slants down into the back of the chair. The back is tall and features the wingback accent at the headrest. This lounge has been newly reupholstered in a light green velvet. The color compliments the teak wood tone while also creating a modern appeal. The seated position of this lounge is upright, perfect for a reading nook or occasional chair. In overall fantastic vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
