New finds from old Kura (traditional style warehouse) in Kanto area, Japan.
A pair of 2 different size box chest of drawers, in the vein of Medicine chest "Kusuri dansu" in Japanese - one of Tansu furnitures.
Product of late Edo era (1780s - 1868), estimate from the style
conditions.
Pieces of old paper labels are still remain on the drawer faces.
Fully made of made of Kiri (Paulownia) solid wood boards, known to its light weight, natural repellent
humidity resistance,
Kiri is considered as an Ideal wood material for storing delicate materials - so the furnitures made of Kiri preserved well themselves too.
It's still durable enough for actual use.
