About the Item

A stunning 19th-century Chinese apothecary cabinet featuring 64 standard drawers and three larger drawers beneath a fine cornice. Each drawer is beautifully labeled in delicate, hand-written Chinese calligraphy denoting the names of traditional herbs, and thoughtfully divided into four interior compartments for exceptional organization and functionality. The cabinet is finished in a luminous yellow lacquer—an especially rare and highly prized color in Chinese furniture—offering both warmth and visual distinction. Elegant carved scrollwork accents the upper sides, while gracefully curved legs add lightness and balance, reflecting a classic Northern Chinese design aesthetic. Crafted entirely of solid wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, this piece is exceptionally sturdy, stable, and built to last for generations. Rich in history, artistry, and presence, this cabinet is the final piece from our antique apothecary collection—a truly remarkable, one-of-a-kind treasure.
