About the Item

A rare and impressive antique 17th century oak mule chest featuring unusual marquetry-inlaid panels with floral motifs and a rich, warm colour developed through centuries of age. The hinged lid opens to reveal a generous interior complete with the original candle box, a desirable and increasingly uncommon survival. The chest retains its original iron strap hinges, locks, and handles, all contributing to its strong period character. This is a substantial and decorative piece with excellent presence, ideal for both storage and display. Dimensions: Height: 78 cm (30.7 in) Width: 127.5 cm (50.2 in) Depth: 52.5 cm (20.7 in) Condition: In good antique condition throughout, showing expected signs of age and use including surface wear, minor marks, historic repairs, and shrinkage splits, all consistent with a 17th-century piece.
