About the Item

Mid 19th century baroque revival oak dome top chest circa 1840. Fine quality dome top trunk which we found on our travels around Scandinavia. Ornate metal strap work applied to the sides which envelop the carrying handles and the central strap houses the lock and key plate.  Working lock and original key.  Oak carcass with original colour and patina, forming a slightly sarcophagus shape. Nearing it's 200th birthday this piece is still a practical antique, with the interior of a traditional fitted candle box, this box offers plenty of storage for the modern home. Expected age splits to timber due to age shrinkage, minor surface fading.  Structurally strong.
