Antique Painted Chest with Floral Decoration Technical information: Period: about 1800 Origin: Central Tyrol Wood type: Spruce Height: 47 cm 18.50 in Width: 124 cm 48.82 in Depth: 59 cm 23.23 in Description: Antique painted chest featuring vibrant floral decoration and ornamental motifs typical of the Alpine tradition of the early 19th century. The front is adorned with a rich composition of warm-toned flowers, framed by draperies and decorative details reminiscent of festive or nuptial symbolism. The original wrought-iron fittings, with their sinuous and chiselled forms, testify to craftsmanship of great character, while the sides display an abstract wave motif in green-blue hues, complete with period iron handles. This chest tells an ancient story of family traditions and treasured belongings kept over generations, carrying with it the authentic charm of Alpine folk culture. Restoration Information: Our workshop guarantees conservative restoration for each piece, carried out with full respect for its integrity. Every item is treated to ensure structural soundness and hygiene. The following works are performed: - structural restoration - thorough woodworm treatment - cleaning and sanitising of the interior - exterior finish with natural beeswax - interior finish with shellac (natural alcohol-based varnish) On request, we can agree on the desired level of restoration and customize the interior arrangement.
