About the Item
We love these extra long blanket chests. Placed against the wall it has as many uses as the variety of things you can put in it, or it can make a particular statement in front of the sofa when used as a coffee table.
On the lid a thick mortised and tenoned frame is laid upon the two top boards to create two inset faux panels. The panels are painted a plain brown as are the sides. The front, painted about fifty years ago, has an abstract background in shades of green with five red-grounded panels bearing vases, flowers, trees and leaves. The lid lifts on magnificent iron strap hinges to reveal a deep storage well with a divider towards the right hand side.
