About the Item
19th Century French Louis Philippe Style Open Bookcase is the perfect answer for the efficient floor plan! Sporting three adjustable shelves and a sturdy floor to make four surfaces, its total depth is just over a foot enabling it to hug the wall and allow unhindered traffic through the room. The tailored molding on the crown was influenced by the preceding Louis Philippe period, as well as the staid, neoclassical architecture. A plain base below is supported by turned legs in the front. Note the entire back side is hand-chamfered pine planks, indicative of the maker's intent for this very functional piece to serve its family for generations!

19th century French Neoclassical Open Bookcase is a magnificent work of the cabinetmaker's art, separated into an upper and lower tier that together create both display and storage in style! The crown features an intriguing design accented with pyramidal blocks, appearing over two corner pilasters carved with stylized quatrefoil overlay that embrace the upper open-shelved section. The upper tier sets upon a lower cabinet that is in effect a small buffet, with a pair of fluted drawers fitted with cast brass pulls presiding over two beautifully carved cabinet door...
