About the Item

A beautiful Victorian three door breakfront bookcase or display cabinet attributed to Maple Co and in the Art Nouveau/Arts Crafts taste. In golden quarter-sawn oak with bevelled glass panes to the glazed doors it features a reeded and dentil moulded cornice with carved floral roundels and fluting to the frieze, panelled drawers and cupboard doors superbly carved with scrolling acanthus leaves. Unusually this bookcase comes with both original adjustable wooden shelves and a set of six adjustable glass shelves so it can be also be used as a display cabinet. Fitted with original brass handles and with working keys for the doors. In very good condition and able to store a 7.38m / 24ft 2in run of books. The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately Width 60 ¾in (154.5cm) Depth 25 ¾in (65.5cm) Height 87in (221cm) The internal cabinet dimensions are: Shelves (upper sides) 18 3/8in wide x 11 3/8in deep (46.5cm wide x 29cm deep) Shelves (upper centre) 15 ¾in wide x 14 1/2in deep (30cm wide x 36.5cm deep) This bookcase divides for moving and the top should be screwed to the base on assembly.
