About the Item

This elegant bookshelf is one of the many Móveis Cimo's furniture pieces manufactured during the 1960s. The piece is composed of five shelves and one storage compartment that opens with a beautiful horizontal brass handler. The entire piece is covered with the original Brazilian Rosewood, presenting its stunning veins. The big distinction of this bookshelf is the background panels, covered by a charming straw webbing. For this restoration process, we chose a golden straw made with silk composition. This detail makes all the difference, as the panels seem to float and compose cutouts that give lightness to the piece. Móveis Cimo worked from 1921 to 1982 and became the largest furniture producer in Latin America, playing a fundamental role in developing its region and the advancement of manufacturing series furniture in the country. The company was a pioneer in several sectors and consists of an essential chapter in the history of Brazilian furniture making. This bookshelf was carefully restored and presents original stamps from the manufacturer.
