About the Item

A sculptural freestanding wall unit by California designer Lou Hodges, crafted entirely in solid oak and embodying the warm, organic aesthetic of the 1970s West Coast design movement. Hodges’ work is celebrated for its bold architectural lines softened by rounded corners, precise joinery, and the natural beauty of richly grained oak. This versatile unit comprises two freestanding bays, each featuring a two-door cabinet and a drop-front desk/storage compartment, paired with eight modular adjustable shelves for customizable display. Designed to be viewed from all sides, it stands independently without wall mounting, making it adaptable for open-plan spaces or as a room divider. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. One of the pull-down drop hinges is missing on the drop-front storage compartment; however, it remains fully functional and the door is properly supported. Original finish and hardware intact.
