About the Item

Antiques of London A fine example of English library furniture by Minty of Oxford, renowned “Library Specialists” supplying colleges, institutions, and private libraries from the late 19th to mid-20th century. This piece bears its original Minty Limited Oxford label inside the cabinet, confirming provenance and authenticity. The bookcase is arranged in three stacking tiers, each with sliding glass doors that open smoothly to protect books or collectables from dust while keeping them on display. Constructed in polished wood, the clean lines and functional sliding-door design reflect the practicality and understated elegance associated with Minty’s interwar production. Unlike traditional lift-up barrister bookcases, Minty’s sliding-glass system was both space-saving and more secure, making it especially popular in academic settings. The proportions make this cabinet ideal for home libraries, offices, or living spaces, providing both storage and visual interest. This example remains in excellent vintage condition, with the wood retaining its rich tone and natural sheen, and the glass panels intact. The simple plinth base provides stability, and the modular construction means it can be moved and reassembled with ease. Please carefully examine the pictures to see the condition before purchasing, as they form part of the description. If you have any questions, please message us.
