About the Item
A refined and authentic example of Brazilian modern design, this Novo Rumo bookcase was designed by Francesco Scapinelli in the early 1960s and crafted in solid jacarandá (Brazilian rosewood).
Scapinelli’s work is celebrated for its sculptural lines and balanced proportions, and this piece illustrates his distinctive approach: elegant vertical supports, subtle curves, and a functional layout that feels light yet architectural. The rich jacarandá grain brings warmth and depth, enhancing its mid-century character.
This is an original vintage piece, not a later reproduction — an important distinction in the market for Brazilian modern furniture.
As a dealer and member of the board of the Brazilian Modern Design Guild (BMDG), I work exclusively with authentic and well-preserved examples from designers such as Sergio Rodrigues, Jorge Zalszupin, and Scapinelli. This bookcase has been carefully reviewed and is in excellent vintage condition.
