About the Item

Antique French Louis XVI Style Bookcase, or if you prefer, Antique French Ebonized Bibliotheque made from solid mahogany over 100-years ago to a very high standard. We have had our share of antique, or supposed to be Antique French mahogany Louis XVI style bookcases, however most tend to be constructed during the 1950’s. This Antique French Ebonized Bookcase is the real deal and is a genuine antique, which our inhouse Old Plank restoration department beautifully restored, with an old school ebonized finish. The French Louis XVI bookcase was completely disassembled (makes for easy ingress and egress), hand-stripped to the bare mahogany wood, restored as necessary and refinished in this deep black Napoleon III style ebonized and brass exterior. One can only imagine what the house must have looked like, or maybe I should have said chateau, where this elegant Antique Louis XVI Bookcase must have resided. We purposely left the interior completely original for many of our clients prefer their antiques to have a fresh painted interior, which is available upon request. This is probably the oldest and most genuine Antique Louis XVI Bookcase we have seen in over a decade and if you like patina, just look close at the real brass trim. **There are a couple light scratches in the glass.
