George III, dated 1774, bureau bookcase, English. Splendid quality with superb mahogany timbers. Boxwood line inlays along the drawer fronts, slant front fall, doors and satinwood Walls of Troy pattern along the crown molding above the latticed blind fret crown molding panels. Astragal glazing built on octagonal motif. Two adjustable shelves. Original shaped bracket feet (front right with restorations). Visible history of multiple sets of hardware. Interior well fitted with oval inlay of owner's monogram and date "1774 AM" on the prospect door. Wear, marks and scuffs commensurate with age and use. At body: 44" w x 22" d, 88" h.
