Rare CK94 bookcase by Maarten Van Severen, an original MVS studio edition. Made of aluminum and matte plexiglass. Extremely rare and museum-worthy.
The CK94 bookcase , designed and made by Maarten Van Severen between 1993 and 1994, is one of the most iconic creations in his oeuvre. This example is an original MVS studio edition , produced directly from Van Severen's own studio – and therefore exceptionally rare and collectible .
The piece consists of an open aluminum structure with a back panel of sandblasted matte plexiglass . This subtle combination creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow: the cabinet appears airy and transparent, while the matte back panel adds tranquility and depth. The result is a piece of furniture that is both functional and sculptural .
Thanks to its impressive dimensions, the CK94 transcends the role of a utilitarian object. It is an architectural statement that defines the space while simultaneously radiating elegance, simplicity, and precision.
Because the CK94 was only produced in very limited numbers and in Van Severen's own studio, it is considered an extremely rare collector's item . Its authenticity was confirmed thanks to the valuable information provided by Mrs. Marij De Brabander , further enhancing its historical and artistic significance.
