About the Item
Designed in the early 1970s by Rodolfo Bonetto for Artemide Milano, the "Incubo Quadro" modular storage units are a brilliant fusion of conceptual design and functional utility. Each unit consists of a top and bottom in rigid black plastic, which frames a central container in matte black pressed cardboard—a daring material choice at the time that reflects Bonetto’s visionary approach.
The stackable design allows for a variety of configurations, from side tables to shelving systems, and works beautifully in modernist, Space Age, or Brutalist interiors. Stamped on the underside with original Artemide and designer markings, these rare pieces are both collectible and versatile.
fair vintage conditions. minor internal deformations are present exclusively along the folded front edge of the cardboard, where the material is bent twice to shape the opening. these irregularities are not visible when the units are in use and do not affect structure or appearance. the painted cardboard surfaces show abrasions, scuffs, and age-related wear, consistent with the nature of the material. the plastic bases are intact, clean and well preserved, with surface scratches, discoloration and minor stains, but no cracks or structural damage.
