About the Item
Made of sheet steel, the "Congress" shelf is a sturdy and unobtrusive bookcase that can be used on either side, making it a versatile addition to any space. The metal sheets at the end of the shelf are placed upwards, doubling as bookends. The shelf was created by Lips Vago, a merger of Italian locksmith company Vago and Dutch cabinet company Lips, which has designed models for archives and libraries, including this one. Its popularity was such that it was awarded the Smau Industrial Design Award in 1968.
