About the Item

A late 19th century Victorian oak bookcase made in one piece. The bookcase has two glazed doors over two long drawers with brass plate handles. The bookcase is light in colour and is decorated with a reeded line to the drawers and door fronts and the top of the cornice has a surrounded edge made from miniature pyramid shapes. The glazed top has been lined with baize and has four baize covered shelves which rest on cross bearers which can be unscrewed to adjust the height of each shelf. The two deep drawers are oak lined and have brass handles. The bookcase is in good condition, the glazed doors have shatter film on the inside of the glass for safety which can be removed. (Circa 1880) Measures: height 214 cm (84.3 inches) Width 91.5 cm (36 inches) Depth 46.2 cm (18.2 inches).
