About the Item

Fantastic object designed by Wolfgang Laubersheimer and produced by Pentagon Group, Germany, 1984. This bookcase, called "Regal Verspanntes", is made of solid metal and painted with an industrial rust effect. It is unique, has a thread on the side, a fantastic curved design and impressive dimensions. In original period condition with some minor wear due to age, it would look great in a modern living room studio. Prof. Wolfgang Laubersheimer was born in Bad Kreuznach. After graduating from high school he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial employee and then studied metal sculpture in Cologne. In 1982, together with other designers and artists, he founded the furniture production company "Unikate" and in 1985 the design group "Pentagon". As an independent designer or as a member of the "Pentagon" group he has participated in countless exhibitions such as eg. «Wohnen von Sinnen», «documenta 8», «Bienale Sao Paolo», «Maßstäbe» in the museum of architecture in Frankfurt, or «Design Horizonte». He has participated in many competitions for which he has been invited, has collaborated with companies such as: Swatch, AEG, Mercedes-Benz and Tiffany, has his own production company and has led projects as guests at the Polytechnikum in Hong Kong and all 'UCLA in Los Angeles. Since 1992 he has been a professor of manufacturing technology at the Köln International School of Design.

Midcentury Wood Italian Magazine Rack Attributed to Ico Parisi, 1950s
By Ico Parisi
Located in Roma, IT
Lovely midcentury wood magazine rack. This fantastic item was produced in Italy during the 1950s and it is attributed to Ico Parisi. This piece is fantastic because of its luxurious materials: made of lacquered wood with glass side panels and visible brass screws finishes. A must-have for midcentury lovers in order to smarten a studio or an entrance hall. Ico Parisi was an Italian architect and designer. Born Domenico Parisi in 1916 in Palermo, Italy, he was involved in building construction and architecture in Como during his early adulthood. By the 1940s, Parisi took up filmmaking and began designing furniture in 1945, for which he would become most renowned. His designs are characterized by their Italian Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, constructed using soft woods often cut into boomerang-like shapes, augmented by metal slats and boldly colored upholstery. His most prolific period was the two decades that preceded 1965, when he married and formed a design team with his wife, Luisa Aiani, in 1948. He studied architecture between 1949–1952 under Alberto Sartoris...
