About the Item
18th Century Country French Buffet is a classic design that has remained popular for centuries! Using dense, old-growth quarter-sawn oak, the artisans who created it utilized time-honored techniques handed down from generation to generation, including dovetailing and pegged mortise
tenon joinery. The solid plank top features mitered corners which eliminates sharp points in the room, with the cornerposts themselves following the same miter down to the massive multi-tiered base and feet below. Fine bordering softens the architecture for a pleasing visual effect, especially when combined with the recessed framed side panels. The front is defined by the three drawers on top outlined in a fancy scrolled bordering, offsetting the boldly molded undulating apron below. In between, two large cabinet doors continue the bold molding effect, depicting a facing arch theme and flanking the center panel with its arched design. Doors are hung with exterior-mounted brass barrel hinges allowing them to open about 180 degrees, with brass key guards as visual accents complementing the brass knobs with fleur-de-lys guards on the drawer above.
