About the Item
18th Century Country French Louis XIII Buffet in Stripped Oak provides the epitome of understated elegance while serving as a capacious storage piece for all your cherished family heirlooms! Hand-crafted by master artisans using what are today considered primitive tools, the design called for a tall piece for a room with a grand scale, and incorporates an upper drawer tier above the spacious cabinets below. Tailored molding is apparent throughout the design, emphasizing the mitered corners and subtle step-out design of the corners complementing the center pilaster. A stylized arched design appears on each door, rendered from fine molding detail, and surrounded by the framework of the door. Even more tailored is the framework around each drawer above. Finely cast brass key guards and bale pulls work with the exterior brass hinges. Pegged mortise
tenon joints appear throughout the design, all supported by urn-shaped feet. The backing has been relatively recently replaced, but will not be seen when the piece is placed against a wall. Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
