About the Item
Elevate an entryway or dining room with this refined Louis XVI–style console table. Crafted in France circa 1870, the piece features a serpentine front and richly veneered rosewood surface adorned with geometric marquetry and parquetry banding. The single long drawer is dressed with circular bronze pulls and a central wreath-shaped escutcheon, all framed by elegant inlaid panels. Each corner is accented with finely cast gilt-bronze mounts depicting classical mascarons and draped floral garlands. The apron’s center is embellished with a ribbon-tied bronze motif, and the piece rests on slender cabriole legs ending in bronze sabots. The console retains its original rouge marble top with an ogee edge, beautifully veined in white and gray, harmonizing with the warm patina of the wood. The interior drawer, lined in red fabric, offers generous storage. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, this elegant sideboard combines neoclassical symmetry with transitional grace—ideal for a sophisticated hallway, dining room, or salon setting.
