About the Item
Buffet hand-crafted in the early 1800s using cherry and decorated with walnut veneer. The buffet has beautiful lines and color, the grain of the walnut once bleached shows beautiful and subtle grey striations that add depth to the piece. Depths is also provided by the curved drawer fronts found on top of two doors that open to a single interior storage space. The door fronts are adorned with hand-carved flat molding framing flat chamfered panels. The top is also made of chamfered panels framed on three sides. Throughout the piece we can see the wooden pegs used to hold the case together at the joints. The buffer still sits on its original block feet, but the hardware has been replaced.
Overall this is a very interesting piece that brings together Italian and French styles, creating something different and unique.
