About the Item
Antique French Empire mahogany marble top buffet with bronze is an exquisite example of fine French cabinetry, with the emphasis on the finest materials, design and craftsmanship! Exotic mahogany was used to form the casework which is a design that includes a pair of drawers and a pair of cabinet doors over a full-width open display shelf. Rectilinear lines inspired by classical architecture rule the form, with pilasters on mitered corners defined by bronze busts, foliate and paw motifs, with beautiful acanthus flourishes in bronze adorning the feet. Crossed torcheres bound by flowing ribbon, cast in bronze, adorn the cabinet panels, separated by a center stile that mirrors the cornerpost pilasters. Even the drawers feature gorgeous cast bronze pulls and key guards. Beaded trim and fine molded detail provide a wonderful framework. To top it all off, a gorgeous slab of marble has been custom contoured to conform to the lines of the casework below providing an elegant yet carefree surface!
