About the Item
Antique French Louis XV Display Buffet with Travertine was designed in what we call a relaxed formal affair, with a step-back center section flanked by an open display niche topped with two drawers on each side, both slightly stepped forward to create visual intrigue from all angles. The center cabinet features an arched framework around a raised panel adorned with an asymmetrical shell and foliate carving, accented by a contoured apron below carved with a stylized shell in relief. The same treatment was afforded the aprons of the side panels, with the drawers above outlined in fine molding and fitted with exceptionally high quality cast brass pulls. Each cornerpost that defines the sections and brackets the entire cabinet has been adorned with shell, foliate and escargot carvings. The center door opens to reveal surprising storage with a single shelf. On top, a neutral colored slab of travertine was contoured to follow the casework design below then finished with a cove bevel all around.
